Completed in 2011, the Visual Arts building is a 30,000 square foot facility that houses visual art studios built specifically for drawing, painting, pottery, sculpture, photography, and videography programs. Some sustainable items included in this project:
Recovered storm water is used for toilets and irrigation.
Wind and solar energy sources supplement the main grid hydro.
Oriented for natural ventilation, the passive wind and solar heating and cooling systems are supplemented by a closed ocean geothermal loop.
The concrete and glued laminated timber work were completed by our own forces.
