Dining Centre

Certified LEED Gold Campus Facility

In 2007, we completed construction of the Dining Hall and Student Services Building, certified LEED Gold. This facility consists of a commercial kitchen, dining room, and cafe as well as offices and support infrastructure on the main floor. The heating and cooling system includes a geothermal loop installed in the ocean just outside of this building. Other notable environmental components to this building are:

  • Grey water heat recovery: Heat is recycled from water used in the kitchen and laundry areas.
  • Automatic lighting controls: Occupancy sensors and three-stage lighting controls minimize energy consumption.
  • Heat recovery wheels: Heat created in the building is mixed with fresh air and redirected to other parts of the building.

The concrete and glued laminated timber work was completed using our own forces.
